The new Point Groups feature of 3D-Equalizer V3 enables multiple, independently moving real-world objects (including the camera) to be tracked from a single image sequence. Each Point Group contains a unique set of points and is associated with a real world object or with the camera. 3D-Equalizer V3 calculates a separate 3D motion path for each Point Group, which is then exported as an animated hierarchy or as an animated camera.

3D-Equalizer V3 can handle different shots from the same set within one project. Each shot is imported as a separate image sequence, for which 3D-Equalizer V3 reconstructs an individual camera motion path. However, it produces only one cloud of 3D points, placed accurately with respect to all cameras. This makes it very easy to position designated CG models correctly after the data has been exported, because all the camera paths are completely derived from the same 3D point cloud!

The variable focal length feature allows you to matchmove zoomed image sequences. 3D-Equalizer V3 automatically calculates a zoom curve, which the user can view and edit as necessary using a sophisticated spline based editor. There is also a special new filter for smoothing out the zoom curve.

The new unified calculation core of 3D-Equalizer V3 treats surveyed points for which the user supplies 3D coordinates and survey-free points at the same time. The survey-free points are integrated into the surveyed point cloud while 3D-Equalizer V3 calculates your best possible camera motion path. This ensures flexible workflow strategies for teams working on extensive sets of survey data.
